This weekend I will be shooting with both Holga and Diana cameras where I will literally be switching gears. I found a great page for DIY Holga filters which I’m really excited to shoot with and I want to see how well I calculate distance with my Diana.
When I pick up the Diana I will constantly have to remember the following: the 110mm soft tele has a minimum distance of 2 meters or 6.5 feet, the 75mm glass lens is 1 meter or 3.3 feet, and the settings which will actually affect the images range from f11 (cloudy), f16 (partly cloudy) and f22 (sunny).
Welcome to the fairy land of Lomography where the next path, road, and step is wholly your own. I’m leaving the tripod home and taking the teleconverters which will be used with the Holga and two small flash units that will be used with both. I haven’t made a final decision on film yet although I will be shooting some color. Deliberate pacing with lots of note taking is the plan with a focus on street and people photography.
