Having said that I’m taking a photography class where I really am stretching my imagination, and I am questioning how open am I to new ideas. In other words, I am working harder for someone else than I have been working for myself.
I’m stuck - how to translate a secret visually?
As with any assignment my first thought was hey, no problem, and I began the process of thinking that it should be visual and interesting. Then I thought o.k., how do you translate a metaphor into an image? Now I’m thinking I’m going to flunk this class because two weeks later with images that project random incoherency instead of a clear metaphor is slightly freaking me out. I'm pretty sure that I'm overthinking this assignment because now all sorts of the dog ate my homework scenarios are popping up. The best one thus far is oh, I meant for it to turn out like this. Ha!
So now I’m reading this interesting book on symbolism and without a doubt it is informing how I’m thinking of images for this assignment and to my amazement I'm getting past weak excuses. Think about it for a minute. An image that is defined as beyond ordinary human understanding; esoteric. What is an interesting visual secret? Should clarity be my endgame? Dreams are always eternal, and now I’ve learned that secrets are too.
