Lately I’ve been shooting a lot experimentally meaning that I’m modifying my Holga and playing with film speed. The images that I’m getting back are interesting, but I haven’t quite decided what, if anything, to do with them. I usually build on what I’ve learned and what works, and I usually continue on a traditional foundation. So I’ve been asking myself, do I go avant-garde or do I stay traditional?
I often remain quite when others are viewing my work because I’m interested in how they see it. Often I’m in the same room to hear and see their reactions. I recently posted a picture on one of my Facebook photography groups and the response to it was exciting. I actually got comments about it which were flattering but also informative. I've been shooting for myself for so long that I'm just now feeling that I’m actually sharing my work and this is gratifying.
I think that more experimentation is in the near future.
