I have been shooting – in color. I’ve been using both the Diana F+ and the Holga. Although it is expensive I started with Fuji Velvia 50. Why did I choose the Velvia? One, I’ve had a lot of success with Ilford Pan F+ in the Diana, and two the color is amazing. When the Velvia initially came out it was criticized for off skin tones, and over saturation. As a lomographer this sounded great to me. I should have some film back next week.
Shooting in color requires precision and I’m curious to see how the cameras handled this. This past summer (so weird that fall is here) I shot a few rolls of Lomography Color Slide/X Pro and had it cross processed. I didn’t like the results – at all. Everything was a harsh green and at $21 a roll for processing I was not happy.
A couple of weeks ago I added another favorite photographer to my master list – Gordon Parks. In a crowd of hundreds, I actually had the pleasure to see him in person. He left behind an amazing body of work.
